WGEA Wants Rail Service Deemed 'Essential'

While the federal government didn't get directly involved in the CN Rail strike, they did play a role behind the scenes to help get a tentative agreement.
 
Wade Sobkowich is the executive director of the Western Grain Elevator Association (WGEA).
 
He would like to see some changes in the future.
 
"We think that the federal government should deem rail service to be an essential service. Just like Canada Post, health services, and emergency services. It's so vital to the Canadian economy, that it's neither fair nor reasonable for two parties negotiating a settlement or an outcome or the terms of a collective bargaining agreement to be able to bring the economy to its knees in the process."
