Cotton Picker
A cotton picker is a mechanical device that is used in the harvesting of cotton. When it was first invented in the United States it proved very controversial. This is because the very first mechanical cotton picker could replace forty laborers on the field. It proved to be an incredibly efficient tool for boosting the profits of cotton farms, but put an end to the traditional plantation way of life. Cotton pickers come in two different models. The first kind is known as a stripper, and it is primarily used in Texas and some parts of Arkansas. The other model is a spindle, which not just picks the cotton, but also creates blocks of cotton seed.
