Strip-Till
A strip-till is used to reduce tillage and conserve energy. This process combines soil drying and the warming benefits of conventional tillage while still protecting the soil. The strip-till will only disturb the portion of the soil that contains the seed row. Unfortunately, while it saves on energy, the strip-till still requires a high-horsepower tractor and, depending on conditions, may require more than one pass over a field. As well, this reduced tillage strategy can make it difficult to repress and prevent weeds, especially in cooler weather when the ground is hard.
