This year organizers say there is a newly expanded exhibit field which makes this year’s Farm Progress Show the largest ever held and the largest trade show in the United States.  Farm Show Events Manager Matt Jungmann and his team do a great job of organizing the site for the huge numbers of exhibitors and farmers attending.

"We now have over 90 acres inside the fence, the biggest exhibit field footprint we've ever had," says Jungmann.  "The expansion allowed us to bring some outside activities into the field, such as ride-n-drive demonstrations," says Jungmann. "That's one reason we added fire hydrants, for dust control."

It looks like the weather and crop conditions this year will allow for the popular field demonstrations where a parade of new combines, headers, tractors and grain carts show the latest technology in actual corn harvesting situations.  The past two years were cancelled due to weather related challenges.

Besides the traditional field demos you'll also see a speed planting plot, where crops were planted at 5.5 mph, 7 mph and 10 mph.

There is some great entertainment planned as well during the Farm Progress Show.  Country music star Craig Morgan will entertain concert-goers at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2, with the Eric Burgett Band opening at 5:30 p.m. Burgett, now located in Nashville, hails from the Decatur area. Tickets can be purchased at the concert gate, the hospitality tent near the center of the show, or online at http://www.farmprogressshow.com.

Great Lakes Hybrids also has a terrific Tractor Pull planned for Sept 1 and 2 at the Macon County Fairground.  www.greatlakeshybrids.com
