Beet Juice - Snow Removal

Beet Juice - Snow Removal

Some Canadian communities are using a vegetable to help with snow and ice removal. In 2017, snow removal crews from Calgary, Alta., to Toronto, Ont., sprayed mixtures of beet products and salt brines on roads because the brine is less corrosive than regular road salt. The beet juices are also effective to -26 C (-14.8 F), are able to stick to the roads better and won’t wash away as easily as regular ice salt.
