On August 1, 2023, a new chapter commenced for Bayer Crop Science Canada as Antoine Bernet was elevated to the esteemed position of country division head. This monumental shift was publicly shared in a press release on August 8.

In his new role, Bernet will be responsible for a team of over 550 professionals in Canada. They work in a variety of offices, research facilities, and production locations across the country. Bernet will also be a member of Bayer's North American Leadership Team, which is responsible for crop science innovation in the region.

Reflecting on his new challenge, Bernet stated, “Being at the helm of Canada’s crop science wing, a jewel in Bayer’s global crown, is immensely gratifying. This role is not just a professional milestone but a personal one too.”

Bernet has been with Bayer for over 20 years. He started working in the crop science segment in 2005. Before his recent promotion, he was responsible for Bayer's crop science departments in Poland, the Baltics, and the Czech Republic. He has also held leadership roles in sales and marketing.

Envisaging his future, Bernet shared, “The ensuing year will be about harnessing Canada’s dynamic growth potential. The essence will be to strike a balance between our dedicated team and our cherished clients.”

He praised the Canadian team for their determination and commitment to finding new and innovative solutions. “With a treasure trove of innovations, spanning from seed traits to digital farming, we are poised to redefine growth trajectories for our growers in Canada’s eclectic environmental canvas.”

Bernet has taken over from Al Driver as the new Country Division Head for Bayer Crop Science Canada. The driver is retiring at the end of 2023. The transition has been smooth, with the Driver providing

guidance and support to Bernet. Driver will continue to work on some niche projects for North American crop science until he retires.
