Door to Door Organics expanding its Michigan services

Will start delivering foods to Kalamazoo

By Diego Flammini, Farms.com

Door to Door Organics allows customers to order local and organic goods and have them delivered fresh to their front door. With an expansion of their Michigan market, foodies in Kalamazoo will now be able to join in on the fresh farm fare.

Their expansion into Kalamazoo comes after they received $25.5 million in Series B funding (another round of funding after certain goals are achieved).

"Our goal is to increase access to local, natural and organic foods for busy consumers who often do not have the time to travel to several stores for the high-quality food they desire," Chad Arnold, CEO of Door to Door Organics said in a release. "For more than five years we've been delivering local food to Michigan customers, and now that we're serving the Kalamazoo community, more busy families can easily plan and shop for fresh ingredients while also supporting nearby farms and small businesses that are the backbone of their community."

During the growing season, Kalamazoo customers will be able to choose up to 70 percent locally grown produce in their regular deliveries, thanks to a uniquely integrated mix of distributors and farmers offering a USDA-certified organic produce supply chain.

Door to Door Organics delivers to communities in 11 states including Michigan, Chicago, Colorado, and Kansas City.

The online grocery industry is estimated to grow from a $23 billion industry in 2014, to upwards of $100 billion in 2019, representing around 12% of total grocery spending.
