Parrish & Heimbecker (P&H) announced the construction of a new flour mill in Alberta.
The $241-million flour mill in Red Deer County, located in Springbrook near Highway 2A will mill about 750 metric tonnes of wheat from Western Canadian farmers each day.
“We are proud to contribute to the local economy and support the agricultural community by sourcing 230,000 metric tonnes of locally grown wheat each year,” John Heimbecker, CEO of P&H, said in a Sept. 6 statement.
The mill is expected to be complete and operational by fall 2026, with 27 full-time jobs available. Construction is expected to generate up to 200 positions.
And there's enough capacity on site to add two more flour mills if the demand is there.
