CN employees represented by Unifor Local 100 and Council 4000 voted 98 and 97 per cent in favour of a strike, respectively, earlier in the month.
The strike vote meant about 3,600 mechanics, clerical workers and intermodal staff were prepared to walk off the job if the company and union couldn’t agree on a new contract.
On March 20, however, the two sides reached a tentative deal. Contract details won’t be released until Unifor members ratify it.
