Food Recall: Fresh Express Romaine Salad Packages Recalled Over Salmonella Concerns

Fresh Express Brand Hearts of Romaine Salad Packages Recalled In Canada

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recalling Fresh Express brand Hearts of Romaine salad packages over concerns that the salad packages may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. The salad packages are a product of the U.S. and have the best before date of Oct. 11 with the UPC number 071279262017. The product was distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.

There have been no reports of illnesses thus far. However, CFIA warns that consumption of food with Salmonella can lead to serious illnesses. Some of the symptoms from Salmonella poisoning include: high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
