Meet Canada’s Top Young Farm Couple
Brady and Lindsay Funk of Braylin Acres Ltd have been recognized as Saskatchewan’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2025. The honour was awarded at the regional competition held during the Canada Farm Show in Regina on March 19–20, attended by industry leaders, sponsors, and alumni. The Funks will now represent Saskatchewan at the national competition in Toronto this November.
Brady, originally from Consul, Saskatchewan, was raised on a mixed grain and cattle farm. He completed his John Deere Agriculture Technician trade at SIAST in Saskatoon while working in Swift Current. After marrying Lindsay, the couple moved to Wymark, Saskatchewan, where they joined Lindsay’s family farming operation.
In 2015, Brady and Lindsay founded Braylin Acres Ltd, continuing to work with Lindsay’s family while building their own farm business. In 2021, they expanded by purchasing land near Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, where they began developing an ambitious irrigation project. Partnering with Southern Irrigation, they transformed 923 dryland acres into a large-scale sub-surface drip irrigation system, sourcing water from the South Saskatchewan River. Today, it stands as Canada’s largest project of its kind and has delivered strong crop yields despite challenging weather conditions.
Beyond farming, the Funks lead an active family life. They live in Wymark with their three children, where Lindsay also works as a Registered Nurse in mental health. Alongside her sister-in-law, Lindsay also operates a flower farming business. The couple enjoys family travel and supporting their children’s hockey teams, while using their experience to inspire others in their community.
The Saskatchewan regional event featured three outstanding farm families: Marc and Cheryl Norleen of 4G Land & Livestock Ltd, Steven and Danielle Malo of Malo Farms Inc and Wolf Creek Bison, and Brady and Lindsay Funk of Braylin Acres Ltd. Saskatchewan’s Agriculture Minister, Daryl Harrison, also attended the event.
Ryan Mercer, First Vice President of the national board, noted the strong attendance and enthusiasm at the event. The national competition, supported by several agricultural sponsors and media partners, celebrates young farmers who show innovation, dedication, and leadership in Canadian agriculture. The 2025 national winners will be announced in Toronto from November 27–30.
