Cyle and Erika Stewart, the dynamic duo behind Pine Ranch in Morse, Saskatchewan, have been named the province's Outstanding Young Farmers for 2024.

The announcement came during the Saskatchewan Region's Recognition Event held alongside Canada's Farm Show.

Pine Ranch focuses on a commercial cow-calf operation and raising grass yearlings. Sustainability is a core principle for Cyle and Erika, who constantly seek ways to improve production practices while prioritizing soil health, cattle nutrition, and low-stress handling of their animals.

Cyle brings a wealth of experience to the ranch. A former college rodeo scholar, he currently serves on several boards, including the Canadian Ranch Roping Association, the RM council, and Saskatchewan Agriculture Matters. His passion extends beyond cattle, encompassing working horses, stock dogs, and humane handling techniques.

Erika, a graduate in Education with a varsity rugby background, is a strong advocate for the beef industry. After completing the Cattlemen's Young Leaders program and the CWA's Next Gen Mentorship Program, she now serves as the provincial coordinator for Saskatchewan's Verified Beef Production Plus program. Erika enjoys educating consumers about the journey of beef from farm to table.

Together, Cyle and Erika have mentored young minds through the Beef Cattle Research Council program and continue to actively compete in Ranch Roping events. Their dedication and diverse skillsets make Pine Ranch a truly impressive operation.

The Saskatchewan Region of Canada's Outstanding Young Farmers Program was proud to present this year's award to such a well-rounded couple. Cyle and Erika faced stiff competition from Jeff and Riley Ewen of E3 Ag Ventures in Riverhurst, who focus on family-oriented growth through irrigation and custom row crop production.

"Saskatchewan's Outstanding Young Farmers program once again proved to be a resounding success," remarked Amy Cronin, Vice President of the National OYF board. The event drew over 190 attendees, including nominees, sponsors, alumni, and agricultural representatives, celebrating the brightest stars in the industry.

Cyle and Erika will represent Saskatchewan with pride at the National Outstanding Young Farmers event in Lethbridge, Alberta, later this year (November 27 - December 1).

This prestigious program recognizes exceptional young farmers across seven regions in Canada, highlighting their dedication and the vital role agriculture plays in the nation's economy.
