Steffes Group Enters Canada Market with Auction Firm Buyout

Steffes Group Canada ULC has officially acquired Bruce Schapansky Auctioneers Inc., a respected auction firm based in Tisdale, Saskatchewan.

Steffes, founded in 1960 in North Dakota, is a leader in the U.S. auction scene, and this move allows the company to expand its presence into Canada. With the addition of the Tisdale location, Steffes now operates out of ten locations.

Bruce Schapansky, the founder of the Saskatchewan-based auction house, expressed his excitement about joining forces with Steffes. “Joining Steffes Auctioneers provides us with tools and resources to better serve our customers,” Schapansky said. After meeting with Steffes' team, he was impressed by the shared values between the two companies. “It is not every day that you find two companies so alike in so many ways,” he remarked. “Knowing that Steffes started as a family business and continues to grow along with their family means a lot to us.” Schapansky assured his customers that he remains committed to the business, stating, “I’m not going anywhere! I’ll be focusing on sales and staying connected with our customers.”

Steffes Group has long-standing roots in agriculture and has been a leader in farm auctions across the Midwest U.S. for six decades.

The company provides a full range of auction services, including live and online auctions for farm, construction, and transportation equipment, as well as real estate.

Bruce Schapansky Auctioneers will continue its operations in Tisdale, undergoing a rebrand to integrate with the Steffes name.

Scott Steffes, President of Steffes Group, praised the work Bruce Schapansky has done in building a strong customer-centric business. “Bruce has built a strong reputation in Saskatchewan with his seller-focused approach to auctioneering,” Steffes said. “He values customer relationships as much as we do, which makes this such a great pairing.” The company aims to provide a seamless transition for Schapansky’s clients while delivering an enhanced auction experience.
