Ontario police are searching for suspects who got away with stealing 1,400 pounds of tobacco from a farm in Brant County.

Authorities say that a group of people entered a barn on Bishopsgate Road, west of Brantford Sunday night, taking the tobacco. Someone living at the property saw a vehicle flee and called police.

Police found the vehicle, but suspects dodged into a corn field and got away on foot. A police search was called, including a canine unit, but efforts were unsuccessful.

Those with information about this case are asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
