2) CFA supports supply management bill

The Canadian Federation of Agriculture is in favour of Bill C-282.

The bill, introduced by Bloc Québécois MP Luc Thériault in June 2022, calls for an amendment to trade law ensuring the federal government doesn’t make any market access concessions in future trade deals for supply managed products.

Between CETA, CPTPP and CUSMA negotiations, by 2024 about 18 per cent of dairy products in Canada will have originated in other countries. And the federal government has provided multiple rounds of compensation for dairy producers in response.
