After Allis-Chalmers acquired Buda, they put the 6BD-230 engine into the WD45, making the tractor available with a diesel engine, the most powerful tractor for its size between 1953 and 1957, and considered one of the most important tractors built by Allis-Chalmers. The company manufactured 90,382 of the WD45 with most of those being configured for a gasoline engine. The price for the WD45 row crop tractors was around $2400 in 1956.
