41st Annual Vegetable Sale Starts Today!

The Portage Rotary Club is bringing its vegetable sale fundraiser back for another year.

This has been a staple of Rotary in Portage for several years, and this year is no different. Chair Preston Meier says he is always happy when they can bring the community together, especially while supporting local producers.

"Longevity, I think, is important," says Meier. "This vegetable sale has been going on since 1978. So, there's been a great group of people throughout the years that have been able to keep this thing going. It is one of our largest fundraisers but more importantly, it's a community event. People look forward to it. Of course, the best part about it is it's all supplied by local suppliers."

Meier adds how important the producers in the area have been in keeping this fundraiser alive.

"Without the commitment of the local suppliers, it just wouldn't go," says Meier. "We really appreciate the opportunity to work with them, not only that but to bring in local produce. It just really shows you that the community is the sum of its parts and everybody doing their part just makes it that much better. So, we're really excited to continue our relationship with the suppliers."

There have been a few changes to the event this year.
