Starting in 2000, I have been taking small groups of farmers from Canada, USA and Europe to experience firsthand the many backroads and best kept secrets of Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Galapagos and Colombia. In response to your requests, we are now taking groups for ag-ventures into Europe, the UK, Israel and Africa too.
You're warmly invited to join us: to travel paths less trodden, to meet good friends and farmers on other continents, and to return home with a suitcase full of unforgettable experiences.
In 2018, we are planning a January Brazil agricultural tour that starts in Amazonia, visits the mega-farms in Mato Grosso, the Show Rural (best farm show in Brazil), and ends at the spectacular Iguacu Falls

Sat Jan 27 Toronto, Ontario to Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. Meals on flight.

09:00 Depart for the " Meeting of the Waters " passing the city river
front ... Houses on stilts, Floating Docks, Markets, Floating Gas
Stations, Industrial Zone . Arrive at Meeting of waters where the Amazon River joins the Rio Negro.
Lunch at a Floating Restaurant and exploration of the flooded
forest: See giant kapok trees and the water lily pads (largest in
the world). Then explore the natural channels by boat and fish
for Piranhas. Return to Manaus late afternoon cruising the Rio
Negro. Dinner on your own at the Hotel.

09:00 Depart on a Field trip to a Farm where we'll see the largest edible fresh water
fish in the world, the Pirarucu (Arapaima gigas). Tour passes through the
Rain Forest. Lunch at a typical Amazonian Fish
Restaurant near the city of Manacapuru (drinks
incl.) Visit local fish exporters and a fish farm along
the Amazon River. Return to Manaus late afternoon.

Opera House) with lunch at a Churrascaria (Brazilian BBQ)
Afternoon visit to INPA (Amazon Research Institute) Return to the hotel.

09:30 AM Guided visit to the Hotel Zoo accompanied by the Zoo Veterinarian
Check out Hotel Tropical. Drive to Manaus airport for 4.5 hr flight to Cuiaba in
Mato Grosso state. Transfer & check into Hotel Hits Pantanal for one night.

08:00 Check out. Depart Cuiaba by AC bus for Lucas do Rio Verde on the
“Soybean Highway” BR 163 (332 Kms from Cuiaba to Lucas (5 hrs) through
the Cerrado: Brazil’s newest ag frontier of mega
farms. Lunch en route at Nova Mutum. Traveling the
entire trip past Soybeans, we arrive at Lucas in time
to enjoy the pool at Odara Hotel (2 nights)

08:30 Depart to Mano Julio I Farm to see cattle feeding after soy harvest.
http://www.manojulio.com.br Lunch at the Farm. This 4,800 ha farm has
swine, poultry, dairy & beef cattle in addition to soybeans & other crops.
After Lunch we tour the cropping & cattle feedlot. Return to the hotel to
enjoy the hotel pool side. Dinner at a local Restaurant

08:30 Depart for Q&A with ag technicians during a soybean harvest field
visit. Lunch. After lunch, a visit to Elevator / Storage facilities / Machinery
Return to Cuiaba. Check into hotel. Dinner

Departure day. Time permitting, a presentation at the hotel from
Aprosoja, the state soybean association. Then travel to airport in
Cuiaba for 4 hr flight to Iguacu Falls; where Paraguay, Argentina &
Brazil meet.
Arrive 18:40 at Iguacu Falls. Meet guide. Transfer to Hotel Mabu

Visit farms in Parana state near Cascavel.
This state is where Agricultlure in Brazil
actually began. You’ll see a contrast to the
Cerrado farms. Return to Hotel.

Visit Show Rural in Cascavel: the best outdoor farm show in Brazil.
Return to Hotel. Lunch & Dinner on your own.
Wed Feb 7 B
Tour of Iguassu tourist sites: Iguassu falls from Brazil side, Itapúa
Hydro electric dam, Paraguay border, etc.
Return to Hotel. Lunch & Dinner on your own.
Thu Feb 8
Check out hotel. Depart for Toronto via Sao Paulo
& Panama City. Arrive Toronto 23:52.
