Changes announced to help producers impacted by spring storms

The province has announced supplemental relief for producers that experienced significant losses during the storms in April.

Corrections, Policing and Public Safety Minister Christine Tell says the supplemental initiative will help producers who did not originally qualify for support under the existing PDAP program.

"We recognize the impact these storms have had on Saskatchewan's agricultural producers, especially those who have lost livestock as a result."

The change now opens the door for agricultural operations with more than $2 million in gross revenues to apply.

The province notes there are family run farming operations that exceed the threshold in gross annual revenues, but do not have the capacity to recover without government assistance.

Local authorities, such as municipalities, must request designation through the PDAP office to initiate assistance for residents.

Anyone that has applied to the PDAP program, as a result of the spring storms, will automatically be considered for the supplement and will not require a separate application.
