Wildfires have become more prominent over the past few years. Wildfire smoke contains toxic particulate matter that can cause serious health consequences for dairy cattle impacted by wildfire smoke.

A study completed by Anderson et al. (2022), Effects of wildfire smoke exposure on innate immunity, metabolism, and milk production in lactating dairy cows (sciencedirectassets.com), examined the impact of wildfire smoke on the physiological response of dairy cattle with regards to milk production and overall health. The objective of this article is to describe the physiological impact that occurs to dairy cattle as a result of wildfire smoke.
