Local Corn Harvest In The Home Stretch

The owner of a seed company at Ste. Anne says corn producers are enjoying a good harvest here in the southeast. Marc Hutlet says yields per bushel are up there.

"Some of the crops that had a lot of water are still doing 100 bushels per acre and we've reached as high as almost 180. A lot of farm averages will be in the 130-140-150 range. There are a lot of solid yields out there."

He adds the quality is also good. Hutlet estimates the corn harvest is over half finished and, weather permitting, it should be completed in the next week or so.
