New Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation CEO Excited About The Future

Last week, the province announced the appointment of a new President & CEO to the Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation (MASC).

Jared Munro, of Portage la Prairie, shared how it felt to be selected.

"I'm honoured to have the opportunity to lead MASC in the future," says Munro. "It's a business or an organization that's been around for almost 60 years servicing farmers. I'm really excited to have that opportunity to lead that organization as we deal with lots of changes in the agricultural sector."

Munro explains he's worked at MASC for the last decade and assumed the role of CEO last June. He says people don't realize how big of an operation MASC is in Portage. There are about 50 people working there, and that's a third of their full-time staff. Although most don't hear much about their efforts, they're big players in the agriculture industry.

He talks about the mounting healthcare crisis in rural communities in the distance to drive for service and the increase in cost for that very care. We also get into the energy sector and what the cancellation of $300 billion in clean energy investments has done to rural communities. We’ll close with changes and lost efficiencies in food assistance benefits.
