Purely Canada Foods Buys Kindersley Plant

Saskatchewan based Purely Canada Foods has acquired the former Canpulse Plant at Kindersley, after the plant fell into receivership last year.

Purely Canada Foods is a family owned company that has a 90 thousand tonne terminal near Regina.

David Nobbs is Purely Canada's Senior Special Crops Trading Manager and has worked for the company now for about a year and a half.

He says at this point they haven't got control of the asset yet.

"The bankruptcy court you know, confirmed that we have the winning bid. So in the next probably seven to 14 days we'll have access to the location, and we'll move in, start rehiring the staff back, and start running it again."

Nobbs says they are a solid, well financed company with a lot of experience on the trade side, adding that paying growers in a timely manner is a priority for them...100%.

"Our focus for that location, will start off with canaryseed, lentils, but we'll also probably do more peas than we have even in the past. Maple peas, green peas, yellow peas, and you know we're entertaining wheat and durum as products as well. We haven't made any final plans we really bought the asset as a special crops facility and that's where its strength is."

Purely Canada Foods is a family owned company that has a 90 thousand tonne terminal near Regina as well as a partnership with Battle River Rail in the Camrose-Alliance region in Alberta.
