A Quebec-based company is trying to become one of the global leaders in vertical farming.
Winter Farm announced on Tuesday it raised $46 million thanks to multiple investors and Quebec’s government which will be used to help produce around one million kilograms of strawberries every year.
They plan on doing this by building six 600 square metre vertical farms, which grow crops in vertically stacked layers, adding onto their two already in operation.
“The arrival of new partners is a vote of confidence in favour of Winter Farm’s industrial potential and our ability to deliver superior quality fruit,” Alain Brisebois, president and CEO of Winter Farm, said.
