Walter Paszkowski Farm Leadership Award

Alberta Canola is now accepting applications for the Walter Paszkowski Farm Leadership Award that will provide one canola grower in Alberta with a $5000 bursary towards participation in the esteemed National Farm Leadership Program for the 2025 year.

The award expands upon Alberta Canola’s commitment to creating leadership and training opportunities for Alberta farmers and further strengthens our strategic partnership with Farm Management Canada.

Farm Management Canada is pleased to be working with LeaderShift to empower Canada’s farmers through the National Farm Leadership Program, designed especially to fit into hectic farm life to learn and perform in real time. Led by certified Executive Coach and fourth generation farmer, Kelly Dobson, the program combines adult learning with neuroscience to enable leader development at any age.

“We are extremely grateful and proud to expand our partnership with Alberta Canola to offer this incredible opportunity to Alberta canola growers. Farming today requires not only technical expertise, but strong leadership and the ability to empower others – this program equips Canada’s farmers with the capacity to lead with confidence and remain resilient in an ever-evolving industry.” Heather Watson, Executive Director of Farm Management Canada

The Walter Paszkowski Award was unveiled at Alberta Canola’s 2024 Annual General Meeting in Grande Prairie in January 2024, honouring Mr. Paszkowski’s lifelong contributions, leadership, and achievements. His enduring impact on the canola industry and the communities he has tirelessly served is immeasurable. Mr. Paszkowski’s leadership has been instrumental in the development of Alberta’s canola industry and the formation of the Alberta Canola Producers Commission.

“This award honours the legacy of Walter Paszkowski, a true pioneer of Alberta’s canola industry. By supporting leadership development through the National Farm Leadership Program, we are investing in the future of Alberta’s farmers, helping them acquire the skills they need to successfully lead their farms and the agriculture industry into the future.”  Christine McKee, Chair of Alberta Canola’s Grower Engagement & Engagement Committee
