Video: How (and Why) Farmers Use Herbicide | Farm & Harvest

With over 3,000 cows, Jones Family Farm in Massey is one of the biggest dairy farms in Maryland. To keep all those cows in shape, Sean Jones needs a constant supply of healthy feed, which means it can't have weeds in it. Willard Agri-Service provides him with targeted herbicide application, which helps control weeds in his fields. While pesticides are very common, they also are surrounded in controversy. With help from Dr. Kurt Volmer from the University of Maryland, we learn about the benefits and risks of pesticide, and how farmers who use them are required by law to follow safety practices.
