The Mashed Potato was a popular dance in 1962. Dee Dee Sharp introduced the dance to go along with her song “Mashed Potato Time.”

Follow these simple steps to do the Mashed Potato at your next party!
1. Stand with feet about 12 inches apart with knees and toes curled in.
2. Bring your right foot off the ground and swivel on the ball of your left foot, turning your toes inward.
3. Lower right foot to the original position.
4. Repeat, this time shifting weight to the right foot.
5. Raise your left leg off the ground, swiveling on the ball of your right food and turning your right toe in.
6. Repeat, this time shifting weight to the left foot.
