The winner receives a prize package valued at $2,500

An Alberta ag organization is holding a contest for Albertans to showcase their best and favourite beef dishes.

The #AllWaystoCelebrate contest from Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) encourages people to upload pictures of themselves enjoying local beef.

“Be a part of a story that’s been created on the back of our commitment to great-tasting beef, our dedication to exceptional quality and our unwavering support for local producers,” the contest page says. “Every time you choose Alberta Beef, you’re supporting a legacy of excellence.”

To enter the contest, users must follow Alberta Beef and Canada Beef on Instagram and use the hashtag #AllWaystoCelebrate when uploading a photo.

Each photo acts as an entry, and Albertans have until Oct. 31 to upload as many photos as they like. The winner will be announced by Nov. 30.

The grand prize, valued at $2,500, is perfect for anyone who loves to cook, especially with local beef.

The winner will receive a Blackstone 4-Burner Propane Griddle with a pizza oven and air fryer included. A Blackstone accessories kit and about 13.5 kgs of Alberta beef are part of the prize package too.

The contest also helps celebrate 150 years of Alberta beef.

The first cattle were brought to the province in 1874 with many of Alberta’s first ranches located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, a Government of Alberta document says.

This coincided with the North West Mounted Police arriving in Alberta from Manitoba in 1874 and bringing 235 head of cattle with them.

This all occurred during a time called the “free grass years because the newly formed Canadian government was yet to impose strict legislation regarding settlement,” an illustrated history of cattle feeding in Alberta says.
