A MAXMILLIONS ticket remains unclaimed

Albertans are encouraged to check their lottery tickets from the April 18 Lotto Max draw.

A $1 million MAXMILLIONS ticket sold outside of Calgary and Edmonton is somewhere in the province and remains unclaimed.

The winning numbers are 9, 24, 30, 31, 36, 42, and 44.

The person with the winning ticket has one year to claim his or her winnings.

So, with $1 million somewhere in Alberta, let’s head over to the Farms.com Classifieds site to see how many pieces of equipment an Alberta grain producer could purchase with this extra money.

For this exercise, we’ll co-mingle brands to build the fleet.

Farmers in the market for a tractor could opt for a 2018 John Deere 7290R with 6,104 hours from Brandt Ag in Ponoka, Alta.

This tractor is listed for $230,000.

Our friends at Battle River Implements in Wainwright can provide the air seeder.

A 2014 John Deere 1870 can be ours for $182,900.

With a tractor and an air seeder secured, we have $587,100 remaining.

For a sprayer, we’ll head over to Agland Equipment in St. Paul.

The dealership has a 2015 New Holland SP.295F sprayer with 2,053 hours for sale for $199,000.

We’re left with $388,100.

We’ll need a combine to harvest our crop, and for that we’re going to visit Brandt Ag in Hanna.

A 2018 Massey Ferguson 9565 with 1,338 engine hours and 982 separator hours can be ours for $235,000. The listing also has an option to include a 2018 Honey Bee 236 header for $65,000.

With our combine and header purchased, we’ve got $88,100 of our original $1 million left.

If we invest in on-farm storage, we can get a grain bin from Flaman Agriculture in Nisku.

A 2024 Meridian Grain Max 5000 with about 4,974-bushel capacity can be purchased for $37,400.

This means we still have $50,700 left.

And to help get our crop into the bin, we’ll need an auger.

Martin Deerline in Mayerthorpe has a 2024 Brandt 1370HP+ for $50,500.

After all the equipment purchased, we spent $999,800, leaving us with $200 left to purchase lottery tickets to win another $1 million MAXMILLIONS draw.

How did we do with our fleet? What would you change?
