The USDA has announced $340 million to restore farms homes and communities

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced $340.6 million in disaster assistance to help farmers, rural families, and communities recover from recent natural disasters. This funding comes under the USDA Disaster Assistance Fund and supports President Trump’s January executive order aimed at accelerating relief for communities left behind by past administrations.

“My heart goes out to the families across our great country who have lost loved ones, homes, businesses and livelihoods,” said Secretary Rollins. “As one of his first executive actions, President Trump made it a top priority for his administration to deliver fast and fair relief to communities impacted by disasters. USDA is fulfilling the President’s promise today and ensuring we are doing everything we can to support state and local efforts to rebuild these communities to be even stronger than before.”

Other states receiving significant support include North Carolina with $25 million and Tennessee with $18 million to recover from hurricanes such as Fiona, Ian, Idalia, and Helene.

Funds will be used for:

  • $5.8 million in economic development for farm producers

  • $15.6 million to restore rural infrastructure

  • $20 million for safe water, waste systems, and electric services

  • $2 million for technical support to local governments

The USDA is also improving the program by reducing paperwork, waiving income limits, and eliminating population restrictions, ensuring quicker and more inclusive aid delivery.

This fund will assist in repairing homes, rebuilding businesses, and restoring essential services in areas hit hardest by disasters, showing a strong commitment to rural resilience.
