All direct farmers onboard with regenerative practices

Brown-Forman Corporation has reached a significant milestone by engaging 100% of its direct farmers in regenerative agricultural practices, achieving its sustainability goal ahead of its 2025 target. This marks a crucial step in reinforcing the company's dedication to a resilient and sustainable agricultural supply chain, which is foundational to producing exceptional whiskey.

“From the grain to the barrel, whiskey is an agricultural product that takes time and patience. Taking care of the land is vital to the success of our industry. We are making investments today that may not come to fruition until 70 years from now. This all factors into making the world's finest whiskey,” stated Elizabeth McCall, Woodford Reserve Master Distiller.

Brown-Forman’s commitment to leveraging agricultural sustainability spans multiple dimensions including enhancing soil health, supporting ecosystems, enriching rural communities, and increasing farmer profitability.

Andy Battjes, Director of Global Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability at Brown-Forman, emphasized the importance of these initiatives.

“Environmental sustainability is integral to our long-term strategy and success. This achievement marks the beginning of our ongoing efforts to maintain a sustainable supply of high-quality materials and enhance efficiency in our production processes,” explained Battjes.

The company’s sustainability efforts also extend to reducing emissions, safeguarding watersheds, supporting sustainable forestry, aiming for fully recyclable or reusable packaging, and embracing circularity in its processes. Brown-Forman is now poised to develop new goals to further promote sustainable agricultural practices across its supply chain.
