Only three days into November and the month has proved to be a busy one for John Deere as the company announced two acquisitions between Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, John Deere announce its acquisition of Monosem, a manufacturer of precision planters with a leading presence in the European market. The transaction includes Monosem’s France-based facilities along with two in the United States – located in Edwardsville, Kansas and Ithaca, Michigan.

"Through this action, we continue to build on our leadership position in precision agriculture," said John May, president, Agricultural Solutions and Chief Information Officer. "Monosem is admired for its innovation and success in precision planter technology that helps farmers increase production. Acquiring this market leader positions John Deere to serve more customers worldwide."

Tuesday provided more excitement for John Deere and its customers as the company announced the acquisition of Precision Planting.

Under the agreement, The Climate Corporation, a subsidiary of Monsanto, will gain connectivity to John Deere equipment.

"Our agreements enable farmers to combine the industry-leading technology of John Deere equipment with Climate FieldView, the platform that offers farmers the broadest equipment connectivity in the industry backed by data science,” said Mike Stern, president and chief operating officer for The Climate Corporation. “This connectivity allows farmers to collect and directly share data to the Climate cloud, enables data visualization in the cab and supports the development of customized data science-driven insights.”

Customers can choose to share their data between the John Deere Operations Center and the Climate FieldView platform.
