Canada's Farm Show recently hosted a thrilling competition that spotlighted the creativity and skill of young entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector.

The event, known as the 24-Hour Startup | AGTECH, challenged participants to turn their innovative ideas into practical solutions for farming, all within a single day.

The challenge began with teams forming and immediately diving into problem-solving. They engaged directly with agricultural producers present at the show, gathering vital insights and data to shape their innovations.

The task was demanding: develop a minimum viable product and prepare an engaging pitch to present on stage within 24 hours.

Kai Nim, leader of the winning team FeedFlow, shared his excitement about the event. His team developed software that helps farmers understand and manage feed data more effectively.

For their innovative solution, FeedFlow was awarded $4,000 by Conexus Credit Union and $5,000 worth of legal services to support their business growth.

Another standout was AgMentor, an application that simplifies the operation of farm machinery through an easy-to-use digital interface. This app earned the Best Technology award, receiving $2,000 for helping farmers optimize the use of their equipment efficiently.

The audience’s favourite, Scan My Herd, won the People’s Choice Award. This system enhances cattle management by utilizing RFID technology to track health and treatment records, demonstrating how digital tools can streamline traditional farming practices.

The panel of judges, experts in technology and entrepreneurship, evaluated each presentation, focusing on the potential impact and feasibility of the solutions offered. Their expertise helped ensure that the most promising ideas received the support needed to move forward.

Celina Philpot, CEO of Conexus Credit Union, reflected on the importance of such events in fostering local talent and innovation. She emphasized the union's commitment to enhancing the economic vitality of Saskatchewan through supportive initiatives for startups.

This event not only showcased the ingenuity of Canada's young minds but also highlighted the ongoing evolution of agricultural practices through technology and collaboration.

It proved to be an inspiring display of potential future advancements in Canadian agriculture, encouraging a new generation of entrepreneurs to continue driving the industry forward.
