Dressed in a bright green t-shirt with “I ♥ GMO” written on the front, Robert Saik, CEO of The Agri-Trend Group of Companies, attended a May 21 March Against Monsanto in Kelowna, British Columbia to engage in discussions with protestors about GMOs.

“(I came) to talk about the other side of the story and understand the technology,” he said in a video posted on his Facebook page documenting his experiences. “I’m happy to talk to you, I’ve got lots of information for you.”

In the background, a voice can be heard shouting expletives before Saik discusses the notion that GMO foods cause infertility.

“That’s really interesting because they’ve been in our food supply for 30 years and if it was causing infertility then we wouldn’t be having any babies and yet I see all sorts of kids around here.”

Soon after, a man approaches with a video camera, asking about pesticides and why Europe isn’t allowing GMOs before telling Saik and Monsanto to “go climb up a tree.”

“Ninety-nine per cent of all European animal livestock feed is GMO,” Saik responds. “It’s imported from South America.”

Videos on Saik’s social media accounts show him speaking to a protestor who knocks over and moves the signs and information he brought with him.
