Syngenta Introduces New U.S. Winter Wheat Varieties

Syngenta released three new winter wheat varieties for United States growers. The new wheat options are aimed at enhancing stronger pest tolerance, higher yield and quality. “They serve a range of grower needs and should help the region start the winter wheat season off right,” explains Cassie Misch, Eastern Cornbelt region key account lead.

The following are the three new winter wheat varieties:

• SY 1526: Early maturing variety and has good head scab tolerance. Good option for growers in - across Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and western Ohio.
• SY 483: Good winter survival and tolerance to Rhizoctonia, a soil virus. Good option for growers in - northern Illinois through western Pennsylvania, as well as West Virginia and the Delmarva.
• SY 901: Excellent sprout tolerance, harvesting flexibility with good tolerance to powdery mildew. Good option for growers in Michigan, northern Indiana and Ohio.
