Averum boosts verification for growing US Cotton Trust

The U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol is setting new standards in cotton sustainability. Their latest move is partnering with Averum, following an impressive 120% grower enrollment surge in the past three years. This sharp growth trend demands further third-party validation.

Averum stands out as an agricultural sustainability powerhouse. Being an arm of Pinion, their auditors, strategically stationed across the U.S., are versed in the food and agri-business sectors. Their verification process is both careful and mindful, ensuring minimal disruption.

This partnership will see Averum collaborate with Control Union Certifications, a player in the Trust Protocol's verification since 2020. For Dr. Gary Adams, the President of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol, these checks are essential, ensuring raw cotton's sustainability credentials for various brands.

Using the square root model, the Trust Protocol ensures a fair representation of Cotton Belt growers. This model remains robust, irrespective of growing membership numbers. The program distinctly focuses on six sustainability pillars, from land use to energy efficiency. Annually, pivotal environmental and societal data are recorded and collated.

Boasting a formidable member lineup of over 1,600, including names like Old Navy and American Eagle Outfitters, the Trust Protocol underscores its commitment to sustainability and continuous enhancement.
