Federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau addressed the Russia-Ukraine situation Wednesday at the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (cfa) AGM in Ottawa.
"It's obvious that Ukraine being a big agricultural producer and exporter. It will have a significant impact. Russia as well. I would say that my first thought after the Ukrainian community themselves, obviously, will be for developing countries who used to be supplied by Ukraine. I know that our grain producers are already working closely with the world food program to supply Africa and the Middle East, because there's a real food security issue."
Bibeau says the invasion will likely put pressure on our supply chain, and on the prices of inputs such as fertilizer.
