Case IH Introduces New Optum Tractor Series

Case IH forage lineup includes new Optum tractor series

Case IH has beefed up their forage lineup with a new Optum tractor series, as well as updates to the Puma and Maxxum series tractors. Combining operator convenience with efficient power, this series was designed to fulfill a new horsepower segment in their lineup of hay and forage equipment. In order to increase baling efficiency, Case IH has also announced a new ISOBUS Class 3 enabled Feedrate Control system, which is available for select large square balers from the LB4 series. The new series features heavy duty performance suitable for year round use.

The Optum tractor series features the proper horsepower required when completing high volume hay and forage operations. The PTO horsepower of the machines ranges from 240 to 270 hp, meaning that the tractors are efficient and powerful, ensuring great performance every time. Another feature of the Optum series tractors is the Continuously Variable Transmission, or CVT, which allows for significant fuel-saving.

Case IH has also included the new family styling on the Optum tractor series, meaning that the machines feature a modern look with a redesigned hood, grille and roof cap with LED lighting. The SurroundVision cabs are spacious and intended for ultimate convenience and comfort. Some other features of the new Optum series include efficient power, superior roadability, maximum versatility, and ISOBUS Class 3 functionality. The tractors feature Selective Catalytic Reduction-only technology, which allows them to produce raw power and torque using less fuel. The available antilock braking system, in-cab tire pressure monitoring system and auto-guidance all work together to provide the consumer with an increased level of control and productivity. The three bar axle choices offer the complete range of wheel spacing options for row crop applications, and the ISOBUS Class 3 functionality allows the tractor to perform the job at hand optimally. This feature allows for better control of functions such as rear PTO, ground speed and rear hitch, which in turn allow for an increased performance.

The new tractors pair up perfectly with the Model Year 2016 LB4 series square balers. The advanced baling technology, called Feedrate Control, controls the speed of the tractor which allows the baler to run at optimal performance. The Feedrate Control includes both Charge Control and Slice Control. The Charge Control adjusts the tractor’s speed in order to reach optimal baler capacity, resulting in a higher federate throughput. The Slice Control focuses on adjusting the tractor speed based on thickness of the bale slices, which allows the operator to work with greater consistency.

The Puma series has been updated and enhanced with a new roof cap styling, a redesigned grab-rail lighting structure to improve function, deluxe seating, enhanced lighting packages, available antilock braking and hill holder technology. The Maxxum series has also undergone some recent updates, including new seating options, a second accumulator added to the front axle suspension system, a radio antenna amplifier and a HVAC control panel.

Case IH is committed to providing customers with the most reliable and powerful equipment specially designed to meet current agricultural demands. For more information about Case IH or the new Optum series, please visit caseih.com or contact your local Case IH dealer.
