Manitoba offering free park access and fishing this weekend

The Manitoba government is offering people free access to all the Provincial Parks, as well as no need for a fishing licence this weekend.

Many Provincial Parks across the province remain closed due to flood waters. The government encourages people to check before simply heading to a park.

No fishing licence is needed for June 10 and 11, while the parks have open access for the public up until Sunday, June 12.

"Spanning more than four million hectares of land and water, Manitoba’s provincial parks have something for everyone," says Environment, Climate and Parks Minister Jeff Wharton in an announcement. "Whatever adventure piques your interest – whether it’s hiking, going for a picnic, mountain biking, using an accessible trail, canoeing or beyond – you are sure to find what you’re looking for in one of our incredible provincial parks."

For people to enjoy the parks throughout the day, there isn't a fee. However, camping sites will still need to be paid for.

"Our government is also proud to continue offering the free family fishing weekend, which was first held in 1992," says Wharton. "This weekend gives Manitobans and visitors the chance to experience world-class fishing on our amazing waterways."

Spot Feeding Pigs To Clear Pasture

Video: Spot Feeding Pigs To Clear Pasture

This is a very simple yet effective method to encourage pigs to root and till up specific areas of our pasture. We're calling it spot feeding only because I don't know if it has an official term (Let me know if it does)

In this one we'll show you our pigs in action, talk briefly about how we're doing this, what they've covered and show you how simple this feeding method really is.

I've found that we can use spot feeding to keep our fence line clear as well as clearing up briars and other things that aren't as desirable for the pigs.
