Legislation introduced to track aviation biofuel data

Congressman Mike Flood (R-NE) alongside Congressman Troy A. Carter, Sr. (D-LA), has introduced the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Information Act. This bipartisan initiative requires that Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) be included in the U.S. Energy Information Administration's (EIA) routine fuel reporting.

The initiative recognizes Nebraska's role as a significant biofuel producer and aims to foster growth in the bioeconomy by enhancing data transparency.

The bill, by facilitating more detailed SAF reporting, will help stakeholders understand production trends and develop the sector more effectively.

Support for this legislative move comes from various quarters, including the Renewable Fuels Association and the National Corn Growers Association, which appreciate the potential for more accurate market insights and investment decisions.

The bill also addresses environmental concerns by promoting fuels that can reduce the aviation sector's greenhouse gas emissions.

By including SAF in EIA reports, the legislation supports coordinated action between government and industry to develop cleaner transportation modes and healthier communities.

Advocates from both the biofuel industry and agricultural sectors believe this transparency is essential for the growth of SAF, ensuring that American farmers and biofuel producers are at the forefront of this emerging market.
