Parks Day: Statement from Minister Issik

Canada’s Parks Day is a time to celebrate our country’s outdoor spaces. Here in Alberta, we are fortunate to be home to some of the most incredible landscapes in the world – from the mountains to the badlands to the Prairies and the boreal forest, our province is diverse, wild and filled with natural beauty.

“Through Budget 2022, Alberta’s government is investing about $130 million in our provincial parks and recreation areas this year, reflecting our strong commitment to conservation and sustainable recreation for generations to come. We’re committed to enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities, protecting the environment, supporting public safety and connecting more Albertans to nature.

“Summer is here, and I know Albertans are eager to get outside and enjoy all that our great province has to offer. I encourage everyone to explore the hundreds of parks and protected areas across our provincial system and make new memories together.

“Our parks and public lands are some of our greatest treasures, and I hope that every Albertan and visitor to our province will find time to enjoy the great outdoors on this special day.
