USDA Export Report

Wheat:   Net sales of 151,000 metric tons for delivery in the 2014/2015 marketing year--a marketing-year low--were down 57 percent from the previous week and 61 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for the Philippines (201,400 MT, including 193,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and 1,800 MT switched from Thailand and decreases of 4,700 MT), Iraq (50,000 MT), Japan (28,300 MT), Mexico (13,400 MT), and Honduras (7,800 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (116,800 MT), Nigeria (39,800 MT), and Thailand (1,800 MT).  Net sales of 75,300 MT for 2015/2016 were for Nigeria (40,000 MT), the United Arab Emirates (25,000 MT), South Korea (14,000 MT), and Colombia (4,500 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (8,200 MT).   Exports of 456,000 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and 43 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were the Philippines (201,400 MT), Nigeria (87,200 MT), Taiwan (42,400 MT), Mexico (39,100 MT), and Japan (30,800 MT).

Exports for Own Account:  Exports for own account totaling 8,000 MT were reported to Italy.  Decreases in exports for own account totaling 3,200 MT were reported for Italy.  The current exports for own account balance is 61,400 MT, all Italy.

Corn:  Net sales of 387,600 MT for 2014/2015--a marketing-year low--were down 57 percent from the previous week and 63 percent from the prior 4-week average.   Increases were reported for Mexico (251,300 MT), Colombia (63,400 MT), Japan (50,100 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Honduras (37,500 MT, including 17,800 MT switched from unknown destinations), Peru (27,400 MT, including 30,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 3,000 MT), and El Salvador (22,000 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (101,800 MT).  Net sales of 210,000 MT for 2015/2016 were for Japan.  Exports of 510,400 MT were down 24 percent from the previous week and 28 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Colombia (118,900 MT), Japan (107,900 MT), Mexico (98,400 MT), Peru (90,400 MT), Taiwan (32,900 MT), and New Zealand (19,600 MT).

Optional Origin Sales:  For 2014/2015, outstanding optional origin sales total 68,000 MT, all South Korea.

Barley:  There were no net sales reported during the week.  Exports of 200 MT were down 69 percent from the previous week and 72 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destination was Taiwan.

Sorghum: Net sales of 182,700 MT for 2014/2015 resulted as increases for China (240,700 MT, including 58,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,200 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (58,000 MT).  Exports of 172,800 MT were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 9 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destination was China.  

Rice:  Net sales of 28,600 MT for 2014/2015 were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 53 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Haiti (9,500 MT), unknown destinations (6,000 MT), Turkey (2,600 MT), Saudi Arabia (2,500 MT), and Jordan (2,400 MT).  Decreases were reported for Iraq (600 MT).  Exports of 50,500 MT were down 45 percent from the previous week and 34 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Turkey (28,100 MT), Haiti (10,500 MT), Mexico (4,400 MT), Canada (3,300 MT), and Jordan (1,700 MT).

Soybeans:  Net sales of 910,600 MT for 2014/2015 were up 49 percent from the previous week and 39 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for China (550,100 MT, including 120,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 138,500 MT), the Netherlands (134,400 MT, including 70,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and 60,000 MT switched from China and decreases of 1,700 MT), Mexico (82,000 MT), Egypt (67,700 MT), Germany (67,000 MT), and Morocco (15,000 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (39,300 MT) and Taiwan (1,000 MT).  Exports of 1,690,300 MT were up 59 percent from the previous week, but down 12 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (1,001,600 MT), the Netherlands (134,400 MT), Mexico (110,300 MT), Taiwan (100,200 MT), Egypt (67,700 MT), and Germany (67,000 MT).

Optional Origin Sales:  For 2014/2015, optional origin sales totaling 5,600 MT were reported for Egypt.  Options were exercised to export 67,700 MT to Egypt from the United States.  Outstanding optional origin sales total 823,000 MT, all China.

Exports for Own Account:  Exports for own account totaling 24,400 MT were reported to Canada.  Exports for own account totaling 67,700 MT to Canada were applied to new or outstanding sales.  The current exports for own account balance is 1,900 MT, all Canada.

Export Adjustments:  Accumulated exports to the Netherlands were adjusted down 66,983 MT for week ending December 11th.  The correct destination is Germany and is included in this week’s report. 

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales of 37,300 MT for 2014/2015 were down 76 percent from the previous week and 75 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Spain (40,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Mexico (19,500 MT), Honduras (15,700 MT, including 7,400 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 400 MT), Canada (10,900 MT), Colombia (5,900 MT), and Nicaragua (4,400 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (67,900 MT) and Trinidad (300 MT).  Net sales reductions of 100 MT for 2015/2016 were for Canada.  Exports of 216,200 MT were up 16 percent from the previous week, but down 17 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Thailand (61,200 MT), Spain (40,000 MT), the Philippines (33,600 MT), Mexico (33,300 MT), Canada (13,200 MT), and Israel (8,300 MT). 

Soybean Oil:  Net sales of 30,200 MT for 2014/2015 were up 22 percent from the previous week and 47 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for South Korea (11,000 MT), the Dominican Republic (9,500 MT), Peru (8,900 MT), and Mexico (600 MT).  Exports of 13,700 MT were down 53 percent from the previous week and 52 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were South Korea (11,000 MT), Mexico (2,200 MT), New Guinea (300 MT), and Canada (100 MT).

Cotton:  Net Upland sales of 149,900 RB for 2014/2015 were up 68 percent from the previous week, but down 13 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for China (69,600 RB), Vietnam (34,600 RB, including 1,000 RB switched from China), Taiwan (26,200 RB), India (11,600 RB), and Pakistan (4,800 RB).  Decreases were reported for Turkey (5,500 RB) and Indonesia (1,000 RB).  Net sales of 200 RB for 2015/2016 were for Japan.  Exports of 205,800 RB--a marketing-year high--were up 21 percent from the previous week and 11 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Turkey (54,700 RB), China (46,300 RB), Vietnam (38,500 RB), Indonesia (15,300 RB), and Thailand (10,100 RB).  Net American Pima sales of 8,800 RB for 2014/2015 were down 13 percent from the previous week, but up 82 percent from the prior 4-week average.   Increases were reported for China.  Exports of 4,800 RB were up 91 percent from the previous week, but down 16 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (2,200 RB), India (1,000 RB), Peru (600 RB), and Japan (600 RB).

Optional Origin Sales:  For 2014/2015, outstanding optional origin sales total 16,200 RB, and are for Thailand (11,300 RB), South Korea (4,600 RB), and Vietnam (300 RB). 

Exports for Own Account:  The current exports for own account balance is 52,700 RB, all China.

Hides and Skins:  Net sales for the 2015 marketing year (which began Jan. 1) were 121,300 pieces.  Net sales of whole cattle hides totaled 119,200 pieces.  The major buyers of whole cattle hides were China (67,200 pieces), South Korea (26,600 pieces), and Thailand (17,800 pieces).  Sales of 2,308,200 pieces, including whole cattle hides of 2,270,200 pieces were outstanding on Dec. 31 and carried over to the 2015 marketing year.  Exports of 289,500 pieces were reported for Dec. 26-31.  Whole cattle hides exports totaled 281,300 pieces, with the primary destinations of China (182,400 pieces), South Korea (77,500 pieces), and the Netherlands (8,200 pieces).  Accumulated exports of hides and skins for 2014 were 20,943,800 pieces, down 12 percent from the prior year’s total of 23,713,700 pieces.  There were no exports reported for Jan. 1.                                                                                            

Net sales reductions of wet blues for the 2015 marketing year (which began Jan. 1) totaled 9,200 hides, resulted as increases for China (900 unsplit) were more than offset by decreases for China (3,300 grain splits), Taiwan (3,000 unspit), Japan (2,100 grain splits), and the Dominican Republic (1,600 unsplit).  A total of 217,700 hides were outstanding on Dec. 31 and carried over to the 2015 marketing year.  Exports of 129,000 hides were reported for Dec. 26-31, with the primary destinations of China (54,500 unsplit and 7,500 grain splits), Vietnam (28,800 unsplit), and Mexico (5,300 unsplit and 4,000 grain splits).   Accumulated exports of wet blues totaled 7,149,000 hides, were up 2 percent from the 6,982,800 hides exported during the 2013 marketing year.  There were no exports reported for Jan 1.  Net sales reductions of splits totaled 508,600 pounds for Dec. 26–31, and were for South Korea (499,300 pounds), China (8,500 pounds)and Italy (800 pounds).  Total sales of 690,200 pounds were outstanding on Dec. 31 and carried over to the 2015 marketing year.  Exports of splits totaling 785,800 pounds were reported for Dec. 26-31 to South Korea (489,000 pounds), China (255,500 pounds), and Italy (41,400 pounds).  Accumulated exports of splits totaled 29,746,400 pounds, down slightly from the prior year’s total of 29,949,200 pounds.  There were no exports reported for the period of Jan 1.

Beef:  Net sales of 6,000 MT for the 2015 marketing year (which began Jan. 1) were primarily for Japan (4,400 MT), Chile (300 MT), Mexico (300 MT), and Canada (200 MT).  A total of 49,100 MT were outstanding on Dec. 31 and carried over to the 2015 marketing year.  Exports of 7,700 MT reported for Dec. 31, were primarily for Japan (2,200 MT), Hong Kong (1,800 MT), South Korea (1,200 MT), and Mexico (1,000 MT).  Accumulated exports for 2014 of 680,200 MT were down 2 percent from the 695,000 MT exported during the previous year. 

Pork:  Net sales reductions of 14,300 MT for the 2015 marketing year (which began Jan. 1) resulted as increases for Mexico (3,200 MT), South Korea (2,400 MT), Japan (2,400 MT), and Colombia (600 MT), were more than offset by decreases for the Philippines (24,500 MT).  A total of 45,500 MT were outstanding on Dec. 31 and carried over to the 2015 marketing year.  Exports of 11,100 MT reported for Dec. 31, were primarily for Mexico (4,000 MT), Japan (3,000 MT), South Korea (1,600 MT), and Canada (900 MT).
