The very mild and humid (summer-like) weather will finally transition to temperatures that will feel much more like fall for the weekend.
A slow-moving frontal boundary will stall out over the area for the middle of the week. Temperatures will remain well above normal with afternoon highs on Wednesday in the upper 70s to upper 80s. As the front slowly works its way southward, some parts of northern PA will cool by Thursday. Showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday evening will continue off-and-on through Friday. A cold front will quickly sweep the warmth and humidity from the region for the weekend as Saturday morning lows will be below freezing across parts of northern PA and 30s and 40s elsewhere. A mix of sun and clouds with chilly temperatures will provide great weather for any outdoor activities on Saturday. Another front will bring wet weather back to the region by Sunday as temperatures slowly moderate into early next week. Some heavier rains may fall across parts of the state on Monday as the front slowly moves through the state. Behind the front, another shot of chilly air will arrive towards the middle of the week.
As we begin our transition from the warm season to the cold season, the battleground of air masses for regional dominance will ensue. Current guidance indicates that milder air will prevail for much of the month along with slightly drier than normal conditions.
