Yield Tour, Wasde, and Drought Relief

Here are the Top 5 things the DTN Newsroom is tracking for the week of Aug. 6. Watch for coverage of these and other topics through the week on our subscription platforms as well as on www.DTNPF.com.

1. DTN Digital Yield Tour: Monday we'll have national yield numbers to kick off the sixth DTN Digital Yield Tour Powered by Gro Intelligence. With all the hit-and-miss rains, the heat, and relatively low pest issues so far this season, it will be truly interesting to see what the satellites and yield models see in terms of yield potential in corn and soybean fields. For details on the Tour, which this year includes on-the-ground reporting from Farmers Independent Research of Seed Technologies, see our preview here: https://www.dtnpf.com/….

Watch for our coverage starting mid-day Monday, with state numbers running throughout the week. To see the Reporter's Notebook interview DTN Farm Business Editor did about the tour, see https://www.dtnpf.com/…. She will also host a discussion looking at this year's Tour during our DTN Ag Summit Series Webinar on Aug. 15. See a preview video on it at https://www.dtnpf.com/… and you can register for the free webinar at https://www.dtn.com/….

2. August WASDE Friday: It will be a market-critical week, culminating in the August World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report. As always, we'll have flash coverage moments after 11:00 a.m. CDT, with updates and analysis throughout the morning. DTN Lead Analyst Todd Hultman will discuss the report, and his take on the Digital Yield Tour results, in a webinar at 12:30 p.m. To listen in and ask questions, register here: https://www.dtn.com/….

We'll have additional reviews and thoughts from the DTN analyst team later in the day and in our Closing Market Comment video, which can be found here: https://www.dtnpf.com/….

3. Heat continues retreat: The slow-moving front that drove weather this past week will move south, bringing rain potential to Kansas, Oklahoma, and areas further south. We'll look for the U.S. Drought Monitor update Thursday morning, which will only add to a week full of information on crops as they work through pollination and fill periods. Expect more rains where it has rained, driven by the humidity in those areas.
