KUHN Krausee’s Gladiator 1210 strip-tillage system features its advanced ST-PRO II row unit.

Curt Davis, director of marketing and product management at KUHN Krausee, recently spoke with Farms.com about this state-of-the-art row unit for modern row crop management.

This machine is tailored to meet the demanding needs of modern agriculture, focusing on efficiency and soil preservation.

At the heart of Gladiator 1210 is the ST-PRO II row units.

Each unit is equipped with a large 24-inch coulter that operates independently from the frame, allowing for precise soil cutting without disturbing the overall setup of the machine.

This independence is crucial for maintaining consistent depth and pressure, leading to better soil strip preparation.

In addition to the coulter, the Gladiator 1210 features floating row cleaners. These cleaners also move independently from both the coulter and the frame, effectively removing debris while preparing the soil strip, says Davis.

Another key feature is the berm-building rope closing blades. You have the option to either let these blades float or lock them into position, giving them the flexibility to build the perfect berm for your specific crop needs.

Moreover, the angle of the blades can be adjusted manually with ease, allowing you to quickly adapt to different soil conditions and preferences.

The Gladiator 1210 also simplifies maintenance and adjustment tasks.

For instance, the depth of the shank can be adjusted by hand without the need for tools. This feature is particularly beneficial when quick changes in the field are necessary.

The final component of the Gladiator 1210's ST-PRO II innovative design is the striker reel chain reel conditioning system. This system features dynamic chains that facilitate the removal of mud and wet soil, while continuously conditioning the berm.

This ensures that the soil remains in optimal condition as the machine moves across the field, creating a well-prepared strip for planting.

With its combination of flexibility, independence, and ease of use, the ST-PRO II row unit by KUHN Krausee is a go-to tool for soil management.

Video: Soybean Leafminer

Just as fields were drying down and harvest was nearing, the first case of a soybean field infested with soybean tentiform Leafminer was confirmed in Nebraska in late September. While there isn't too much cause for concern at this point, it's a good idea for producers to familiarize themselves with this new arrival.
