Ag Women’s Network announces pilot mentorship recipients

The Ag Women’s Network (AWN) is pleased to
announce 10 mentorship recipients that will pilot the program in 2017-18. This is
Ontario’s first mentorship that aims to empower women of all ages and background
involved in the agricultural industry.

“We are confident that this group of women selected for the mentorship experience
reflect the demographics and diversity of our network,” explained Jennifer Christie,
chairperson of AWN. “We are excited to see this pilot come to fruition and our selection
committee was very impressed by the high caliber of applicants.”

The 2017-18 AWN mentorship recipients are:

  • • Karen Mansfield – Erin Township, ON
  • • Jenna de Corte – St. Thomas, ON
  • • Madison Cherwoniak – Milton, ON
  • • Stacey Jibb – Sunderland, ON
  • • Phyllis MacCallum – Metcalfe, ON
  • • Laurena Matthies – Inkerman, ON
  • • Kathleen Baird – Burford, ON
  • • Jackie Shaw – Palmerston, ON
  • • Rain Maki – Lynden, ON
  • • Jodie Aldred – West Lorne, ON

Mentees will be paired with a mentor to guide them over the next eight months. Mentors and mentees will work through a “road map” – a document provided by AWN to help mentees outline their goals and for mentors to identify how they can support their aspirations.

The committee would like to thank all applicants for their interest in the AWN pilot mentorship program. Mentee/mentor matches will be announced in the coming weeks. Mentor applications are being reviewed at this time. AWN’s goal is to create the most mutually successful mentor/mentee matches. For more information on the AWN

This inclusive dialogue will not only bridge generational gaps but also emphasize the enduring relevance of agriculture across urban and rural Canada, particularly when faced with the realities of continued pressures on our supply chain that continue to drive up the cost of food and food production. Join us for an enriching discussion that spans the ages, unifying diverse viewpoints to foster a collective understanding of the vital role agriculture plays in building a prosperous and sustainable future.
