New Holland Agriculture Announces1st Cut Photo Competition Grand Prize Winners

Farmers across the United States and Canada snapped photos of their first hay cutting for a chance to win one year’s use of a New Holland Roll-BeltTM 450 Silage Special Round Baler, a best-in-class hay baler. Only seven lucky winners were selected to receive the Grand Prize.

The winners are: Les Hershey of Kirkwood, Pa., Jimmy Parker of Stringer Miss., Merlin Bontrager of Timbo, Ark., Tyler Egeland of Ossian, Iowa, David Nelson of Preston, Idaho, Vanessa Dirksen of Alma, Ontario, and Leroy Otten of Ponoka, Alberta.
The winners worked with their local dealers, Ag-Industrial in Rising Sun, Md., Royce Windham Tractor in Forest, Miss., Roberts Tractor in Mountain View, Ark., Baumler Implement in West Union Iowa, Valley Implement in Preston, Idaho, Roberts Farm Equipment in Chesley, Ontario, and Line Farm Equipment in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, as well as their New Holland District Sales Managers, to facilitate delivery of the balers in September, 2015.

To enter the 1st Cut Competition, farmers ages 18 and older submitted a photo of their first cutting and uploaded the photo to the 1st Cut competition website. During the voting period, the public was invited to review the photos and vote for their favorite. Over 600 photos were eligible to win the use of a Roll-Belt round baler, and seven winners were selected from across the United States and Canada.

“We received a very positive reaction to the 1st Cut competition and with that came many creative photos showing what the first hay cutting looks like across North America,” said Mark Hooper, Senior Director of Marketing for New Holland North America. “I would like to congratulate the 1st Cut winners on their creative use of the contest themes and I encourage all participants to continue to interact with New Holland both at the local dealer level and online. You are the reason we continue to raise the Gold Standard.”

The 1st Cut competition kicked off New Holland’s national Gold Standard campaign, which celebrates the company’s 120th anniversary and continued leadership in hay tools. The competition encouraged farmers to capture a photo of their first cut of the season and enter it for a chance to win a one-year use on a Roll-Belt™ 450 Silage Special Round Baler – a best-in-class hay baler. The contest ran from May 5 through July 31, during which time hay growers were invited to submit a creative photo of their first cutting to www.NHFirstCut.com. The photos went through one round of public voting and one round of official judging by New Holland executives, where they were judged on the following categories: number of user votes received, creativity/originality, quality of image, and relevance to the contest theme.
